29 August 2014: BBC One’s South Today programme has been looking at the problem of medicines shortages in the south of England. According to the report, the shortage of prescription drugs in this area is a growing problem, with some patients having to wait weeks for their medicines.
Royal Pharmaceutical Society English Pharmacy Board Vice Chairman Sandra Gidley spoke to BBC Radio Solent, as well as South Today, about the issue. She said: “The government will not do anything because we have a free trade situation in Europe, but we say that actually you should be looking at this because at the moment patients are suffering. They’re putting trade before patients, that’s wrong.”
