House Bill Would Revamp Compounding Pharmacy Oversight

Law360, New York (September 13, 2013, 6:48 PM ET) -- A bipartisan group of U.S. House of Representatives lawmakers on Thursday introduced a new bill aimed at improving U.S. Food and Drug Administration oversight of large drug compounding facilities like the one linked to last year’s deadly multistate meningitis outbreak.

H.R. 3089, known as the Compounding Clarity Act, seeks to clarify ambiguities in the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act that have hampered the FDA’s ability to effectively regulate large-scale compounding entities that act as drug manufacturers, according to co-sponsors Reps.
