NCPA Email to Members

Powerful interests are actively lobbying Congress to increase their profits at the expense of your ability to compound medications for your patients.

To counter their efforts, please contact Representative Van Hollen at (202) 225-5341 TODAY and urge them to cosponsor H.R. 3089, the Compounding Clarity Act of 2013 sponsored by Representatives Morgan Griffith (R-VA), Gene Green (D-TX) and Diana DeGette (D-CO). NCPA has endorsed this bipartisan legislation as it appropriately addresses the issues that led to the tragic meningitis outbreak caused by the New England Compounding Center (NECC) and prevents another tragedy from occurring while also not interfering with the physician-patient-pharmacist relationship and maintaining critical patient access to compounded medications.

Tell Representative Van Hollen to cosponsor the bi-partisan House approach because it:

  • Maintains state board of pharmacy oversight of traditional compounding.
  • Establishes effective coordination and communication between the FDA and state boards of pharmacy to address a key breakdown that led to the tragedy caused by NECC.
  • Preserves the ability of pharmacies to engage in anticipatory compounding, so long as it is based on historical patterns and preserves the practice of compounding medications for office use.

Please also relay a personal example with a patient demonstrating the necessity of compounding to patient health and well-being.

Please make your call TODAY and tell Representative Van Hollen that H.R. 3089 is a balanced, proper, and bipartisan response to the NECC tragedy that merits their co-sponsorship.
